Amtrak's California Zephyr

These two photos show the Zephyr on the approach to East Portal. Many railroaders don't like Amtrak, but it's my opinion that the Zephyr runs through the heart of Colorado's scenic beauty.

The California Zephyr operates over scenic trackage once traveled by the legendary silver train of the Denver and Rio Grande Western. David Moffat built this line as a vision to reach Salt Lake City. Now, it's part of the vast steel rail network of Union Pacific.
