| The top photo shows the opening day return train from Osier to Antonito. The Aspen were green and beautiful despite a rather dry year. This is at Sublette, within a half mile of the Colorado state line. |

Hangman's Trestle won that title because someone was lynched
on this bridge in the late part of the 19th Century. This photo over 100 years later
shows D&RGW #489 racing over that fabled location with a load of happy fans in the final
stretch just outside Antonito.
