California Zephyr in Denver

The California Zephyr is one of Amtrak's scenic routes. It winds up the front range, above Rocky Flats and El Dorado State Park until it reaches South Boulder Creek. It diverges from the Creek at Moffat Tunnel, a few more than 57 miles from Denver. In the top photo, the Zephyr awaits a departure at Denver Union Station.

In the lower photo, a westbound Zephyr leaves Union Station, passing Coors Field and other familiar Denver landmarks.

The California Zephyr is the only scheduled, year round scenic train to operate through the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
