Tennessee Pass, Lake and Eagle Counties, Colorado
This next photo shows the beauty of the south side of Tennessee Pass. Mt Elbert, highest point in Colorado, is visible in this photo. The rail line can be seen at the left as well.

This plaque was bolted to the south (east) approach to the tunnel at Tennessee Pass until some railfan with sticky fingers lifted it.
The Mainline through the Rockies, or the Royal Gorge Route were other names for the line. It continues southward to pass through the Royal Gorge. Another line, the Canon City and Royal Gorge Railroad operates tours over this portion of the line.
